HHS Season 2 & 3 Sports Highlights

HSD Cheerleaders

The coaches and athletes of Season 3 Sports faced many difficulties with COVID-19 restrictions, but they were all grateful to be able to be involved in the sports that they love.

Wrestling was a particular challenge, as it is a very close contact sport. However, the 15 boys made the best out of the situation. Safety protocols were followed along with regular COVID-19 tests for athletes. Unfortunately, the season was shortened, which made it difficult to get in shape by the first competition. However, several wrestlers excelled and would have been contenders for a state tournament if there had been one.

The boys’ basketball team and new coaching staff worked hard and earned the opportunity to travel to Astoria for games, helping to make strides in the right direction for the future of the team. Their positive energy on and off the court certainly made a difference in the program.

The girls’ basketball team has been cited as a contender for one of the top spots in the GSHL 2A and showed a strong commitment to success throughout the season.

Season 2 Sports had a number of top performances. The HHS track team set some new school records: Trevan Bischoff in the 800 meters and Josh Seaman in the 1600 meters. Additionally, several athletes moved into the team’s all-time Top 10 list in multiple events. At the sub-district level, the boys’ track team finished 2nd while the girls finished 6th, and several athletes from both teams qualified for the district track meet, where Allyson Peterson won the district championship in the 1600 meters.
