Declining Covid-19 Rates

Big thanks to the Hockinson community for following the 3 Ws: Wearing masks, Washing hands frequently, and Watching your distance. It is working! These practices are a huge part of what will make it possible to continue reopening for in-person learning in our schools. This week, COVID-19 cases in Clark County decreased to 105/100,000/14 days. The HSD and HEA are currently renegotiating the working conditions relating to a full-day in person hybrid at HMS and HHS. Lower infection rates will help ensure a successful reopening. Thank you Hockinson for doing your part to keep our staff and students safe!

HSD Data Dashboard

current covid-19 activity level: 50-350 cases per 100k people in 14 days

As we expand in-person learning opportunities for students, the HSD has launched a COVID-19 Data Dashboard to keep our community informed. The dashboard will be linked to the HSD website and updated weekly.

The dashboard contains:

  • Clark County Infection Levels and a link to other metrics

  • HSD School Infection Data (9/4/2020 to Present)

  • A link to Clark County Public Health's School Data Page

Visit the latest Data Dashboard here.

Student Assessment Update

The U.S. Department of Education recently announced its decision on federal testing for this school year: Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) will still happen, although testing may look different than in past years. States must still administer federally required standardized tests this spring, but schools will not be held accountable for the results.

Look for HSD schools to send out additional information as testing dates draw near.

No vacancy at HCC

Following flooding in the district office earlier in February, district office staff have temporarily relocated their workspaces to the Hockinson Community Center (HCC). Office hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The HSD Wifi Cafe is also currently being offered at HCC and is being staffed by Camp Hockinson staff. The Wifi Cafe is open during school hours (8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) and by appointment until 5 p.m. depending on space. Contact Charity Schadt for more information.
