Safety Plan Announced for 9/17 HHS Football Game

Football

Sept. 15, 2021 - In an email to parents and social media post today, the HSD shared its plan to comply with Washington's new event restrictions. Details below:

If you were not aware, Governor Inslee recently updated the mask requirement with new guidance for outdoor events with more than 500 attendees. The updated rules are such that masks are required while outside at an event with 500 or more attendees (the 500 threshold includes both participants and spectators). To comply with the new rule at our first home football game this Friday, the HSD and other school districts hosting large-scale events have two options:

  1. Cap attendance below the 500 mark to avoid requiring masks

  2. Allow as many attendees as possible, but require masks

Other local districts our size have made the call to cap attendance for their home events. The Hockinson School District has decided to allow as many attendees as possible, but require masks. This means:

Masks will be required for all attendees of the September 17th home football game versus Ridgefield (except children under the age of 5).

We ask that you comply with this rule for the duration of the game and until you are back in your vehicle. Everyone’s compliance is essential to ensure that we can continue to offer our community access to these events. Non-compliance will result in capped attendance for the remaining home games. So please respect our school, coaches, students, and families by following this rule.

Additionally, we have added several other safety measures for this event:

  • Free masks will be provided for those who do not have them.

  • All concession items will be pre-packaged.

  • Additional supervisors to help with traffic flow.

  • Spectators are asked to sit with members of their family unit and we ask that families maintain a safe distance from others.

  • There will be designated areas for spectators who want to distance themselves from others outside their household. Attendees will have the option of standing or bringing in their own chair. This will require cooperation. Please respect the visibility of fellow fans.

  • There will also be sections spaced apart for the merchandise and concession queue.  Please respect other community members by distancing yourself from others while waiting in line. There will be markings to help you maintain a safe distance.

We created a map to designate all of these areas (See below).

Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions please contact Caleb Millay at caleb.millay@hocksd.org

We look forward to seeing everyone this Friday evening! Go Hawks!
